The 2013 Huskers lofty goals are stymied by the injury bug and early season defensive struggles. No doubt the Huskers were as much or more talented than every opponent, but fate intervened with a variety untimely missteps and mishaps. The loss of career yardage leader T. 8-31-13, Lincoln, NE. The Huskers open against a pass happy Cowboy team that fell to NU 38-14 in 2012. Should be a platform for the Husker offense to give notice to the Big 10 and the country for what to expect in 2013, and an opportunity for the Blackshirts to get some traction for the new guys. 9-7-13, Lincoln, NE. The Huskers face the hapless Eagles in a rematch from 2012, a season S. Miss. Would like to forget. The Eagles won 12 in 2011, and then lost all of their games in 2012. 9-14-13, Lincoln, NE. Scarlet and Cream vs Blue and Gold again. Last years loss in Pasadena stung bad and no one will be more motivated to set things straight than the guy from UCLA's backyard, T Magic. The Jackrabbits behaved like the depraved white bunny from Monte Pythons The Holy Grail the last time they visited Lincoln in 2010 as the 6th ranked Huskers narrowly escaped 17-3. Look for the same "never say die" attitude again this fall, but hopefully the fire power of NU tame the jrabbits early. 10-5-13, Lincoln, NE. The Fighting Illini were downtrodden last fall (2-10) and will be looking to pull off a shocker to open conference play in 2013. 10-12-13, West Lafayette, IN. The Boilermakers have not clashed with the Big Red since they whopped us 28-0 in 1958 (the year 4 B.B. (before Bob)). 10-26-13, Minneapolis, MN. NU enters the back half of the season after a nice 2 week break. The Huskers plan to shake off the rust and play the Gophers as well as we did in coach Osborne's bon voyage game as AD in 2012.
