1-1-14, Jacksonville, FL. 24-19 victory! The 2014 Gator Bowl is a pivotal game in Nebraska Football history. NU coming off of a 8 and 4 regular season campaign, had higher goals for the year. But injuries and a few bad breaks and a youthful defense combined to stymie the Huskers from their season goals. Coach Bo rallies his troops in Jacksonville against SEC power Georgia. NU scraps and fights, bends but does not break in fighting off a determined 4th quarter Bulldog onslaught. The Blackshirts hold Georgia on 3 fourth down tries and force another 4 field goals. NU's offense presses through the mud and the rain behind another 120 yard day on the steady legs of Ameer Abdullah. Tommie Armstrong guides the "O" to two opportune TD's on Georgia turnovers and then lightening strikes in the 3rd quarter when on 3rd and 15 from NU's 1/2 yard line, TA throws a bomb down the left sideline to a streaking Quincy Enunwa who bangs his way for an NCAA record 99 yard TD catch. Coach Bo, rightly or wrongly had fielded questions about his coaching tenure all season. The pivotal victory and the incoming recruiting class throws a boost of momentum into the sails of Nebraska football for 2014. Entire game as filmed by Huskers Vision, complete with radio play by play. 100 minutes, DVD video.
