12/27/14 San Diego, CA. The Huskers make a valiant and inspiring stand in the Holiday Bowl vs. USC after saying goodbye to coach Pelini. Interim head coach and former Husker O-Lineman Barney Cotton challenges the team asking them to honor God, each other, and their school with their efforts. They do so in typical never-say-die Husker spirit, falling behind the talent rich Trojans by double digits twice and then striking back strong, as in Armstrong. Tommie A. plays his best game as a Husker with a passer rating of 141, with 385 yards passing and multiple clutch throws on third down and long. The defense pulls through in the 4th quarter with a run of "3 and Outs" to give the offense the time needed to pull within reach at 45-42. Only an amazing play by the Trojan nickel back keeps the Huskers just short on a 4th down attempt with 2 minutes left. NU gets the ball back with 30 seconds left and throws a Hail Mary just wide. If ever there was a feel good loss, this was it. Never has a group of Husker Players and Coaches left less on the field, and in so doing, are able to hold their heads high with their hearts full. Go Big Red! Entire Game footage as shot by Husker Vision with radio play by play for audio. DVD video, 100 minutes.
